Bike Month

What is Bike Month?
Every May, communities across the country celebrate National Bike Month and the many benefits of bicycling. Whether you ride for fun, fitness or family time, every trip helps build safer streets, stronger communities and healthier lives. The City of Long Beach and local partners join the celebration by hosting a variety of bike-friendly events, including community rides, bicycle recycling and educational pop-ups. Residents of all ages are invited to take part in bike events throughout the month that highlight safe riding and offer fun ways to bike around the city.
As Long Beach adds new bike lanes and sees more riders—from e-bikes to pedal bikes—the city encourages everyone to Be Seen, Be Safe and Bike On by learning the rules of the road and staying visible, especially at night. These skills help ensure you can ride around safely and with confidence.

How to Prepare for Bike Month
- Get your bike tuned up at a local repair shop to make sure your brakes, tires and gears are ready to ride.
- Register your bike so you’re prepared in case it’s ever lost or stolen.
- Take a Long Beach BikeShare bike out for a spin to get back into the groove of riding.
- Mark your calendar for one of the many Bike Month events happening across Long Beach.
