Important shortfall notice

Release Date: 2020-02-05

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Please be advised that the Housing Authority of the City of Long Beach (HACLB) is currently in a shortfall, which means we have limited funds available to assist with your move. This impacts you in the following manner:

1. Due to the lack of funds, we will not honor voluntary moves where the contract rent is higher than the current unit's contract rent.

2. We will only be able to grant moves to higher rent units for an approved reasonable accommodation or owner initiated moves.

3. All owner packets for voluntary moves not connected to a reasonable accommodation that result in a higher contract rent will be cancelled.

4. If you are requesting to PORT to another agency, the receiving agency must be "absorbing" your move OR you must find a unit that results in the HACLB portion being lower than it is at your current unit.

If the HACLB portion is higher, moving into that unit will be denied. You may have to search for another unit OR cancel your move and come back to Long Beach.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you. We will notify you when more funds become available and the HACLB is no longer in a shortfall.
