Appliance Requirements for Rental Units

Effective Date: January 1, 2026

New California Rental Law AB628 states landlords must provide a working stove and refrigerator in most residential rental units to meet basic habitability standards.

Government Shutdown 10/1/2025 As you may know, a government shutdown began just after midnight on Oct. 1, 2025.The Housing Authority of the City of Long Beach (HACLB) remains open and fully operational. A federal shutdown would not affect our finances immediately, and our services will continue without interruption. 

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has made assurances that core federal programs will be funded through mid-November 2025, even if a new budget agreement is not reached right away. 

Our offices will continue to be open for scheduled public appointments, and HACLB staff will be available onsite to assist.

PUBLIC NOTICE: Office Relocation and Remote Operations 5/14/2024 Starting May 28th, the Housing Authority of the City of Long Beach will close its offices for in-person business as our staff transitions to working remotely. We are relocating to a new suite within the same complex and will announce the official move-in date soon.

The City of Pasadena Housing Department will open their Section 8 Waiting List for Online Applications from June 1, 2023 to June 15, 2023 5/11/2023 The City of Pasadena Housing Department (CoPHD) announces the planned opening of the waiting list for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program for applications, starting on June 1, 2023 at 9:00 am and closing two weeks later on June 15, 2023 at 5pm. The program provides rental assistance to eligible households, helping them afford housing.
