Scherer Park Community Center

Latest Updates - June 2024

The City’s Contractor, MIK Construction, began Construction in October 2023. Construction activities are nearly complete.

Work completed includes:

• Installation of new energy efficient windows and security doors.
• New interior ceiling tiles, electrical, and energy efficient HVAC system.
• Installation of new restroom partitions, lighting, and drinking fountain.
• New exterior paint and colored graphics.
• Improvements to accessible parking and path of travel around the Center.

Final Construction activities are expected to be completed mid-July. Please stay tuned for updates on a Grand Opening Ceremony anticipated to be scheduled in August of this year!

• September 2023 Update

  The City’s Contractor, MIK Construction, is scheduled to begin construction in the area in October 2023 with a scheduled completion, barring weather or other unforeseen delays, by Spring 2024.

  The improvements will include:

  • Renovations to the interior and exterior of the Community Center building
  • Renovations to the interior and exterior of the Park Restroom building
  • Improvements to ADA parking and path of travel

  The contractor is scheduled to perform work Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Parking impacts for residents are not expected. Efforts will be made to minimize inconveniences and minimize construction activities during scheduled park sports activities. 

  The contractor encourages park patrons to keep children away from the construction areas and activities.

Project Information

The Scherer Park Community Center Project will renovate the interiors and exteriors of both the community center and park restroom. There will be enhancements made to the stall partitions, electrical, exterior and interior paint, HVAC, and signage. The parking lot and path of travel will also be improved for better ADA access throughout the area.

The community center is a frequently used space and these improvements will enhance the space for after school programming and summer camp access while making the center more energy efficient.

Project Funding ($2,157,027)

This project is currently funded by local and county Measure A along with AB32.
