Things to Consider During an Active Shooter Incident
Three concepts to survival:
- Run
- Hide
- Fight
Top Things to Tell 9-1-1 Dispatcher and Responding Officers:
- Location of the shooter.
- Number of shooters, if more than one.
- Physical description of the shooter, including the name, if known.
- Number and type of weapons.
- If possible, leave the phone line open so that the dispatcher can continue to listen.
When officers arrive:
- Remain calm.
- Follow instructions.
- Keep your hands visible at all times.
Remember, officers’ priority is to stop the violence. If an officer passes you initially to help stop the threat, know that additional help is on the way.
