The Strategic Initiatives Bureau is integral to the Long Beach Police Department’s commitment to progressive law enforcement. This Bureau is comprised of the Office of Constitutional Policing, the Public Records Compliance Division, and the Information Management Division.
Office of Constitutional Policing
The Office of Constitutional Policing (OCP) plays a vital role in ensuring that the Department remains at the forefront of law enforcement practices. This division is dedicated to proactively analyzing current policy and practice to ensure alignment with industry standards, legislative mandates, and community expectations. OCP helps facilitate data-driven decision making and technology adoption through researching best practices, understanding employee needs, and analyzing quantitative data.
Public Records Compliance Division
The Public Records Compliance Division is tasked with overseeing the redaction and release of police records in compliance withSB1421 and other relevant legislation. This division ensures that the Department meets its obligations under the Public Records Act while safeguarding sensitive information. PRA Requests can be made by following this link.
Information Management Division
The Information Management Divisionis responsible formaintaining all police records and managing automated information systems. This division ensures that data is accurate, secure, and compliant with audit requirements. Additionally, the Information Management Division serves as the central source for crime statistics, providing valuable insights into crime trends within the community.
