Community Services Bureau

The Community Services Bureau is dedicated to fostering strong relationships between the Long Beach Police Department and the community it serves. This Bureau is composed of the Collaborative Response Division and the Youth and Community Engagement Division.

Collaborative Response Division

The Collaborative Response Division encompasses a variety of specialized units and teams that work together to address community needs and ensure public safety. This division includes our Motors Officers, the Mental Evaluation Team, and Quality of Life Officers, Community Services Assistants and the Special Events and Filming Unit. Additionally, the division plays a critical role in emergency preparedness through the Emergency Management Unit, Incident Management Team, and Crowd Management Team, all of which rigorously train to handle a wide range of incidents. The LBPD Recruitment Team and Background Investigations are also part of this division, ensuring that the Department continues to attract and retain highly qualified personnel.

Youth and Community Engagement Division

The Youth and Community Engagement Division is at the forefront of the Department’s efforts to connect with our community. This division manages all volunteer and internship opportunities, leads the planning and implementationof community engagement events, and oversees the Business Desk at the main police station. Additionally, the division is responsible for coordinating key Department programs such as the Youth Leadership Academy and the Community Police Academy, which are designed to build positive relationships between the Department and our community, especially among young people.
