Safety Tips for Drivers:

  • Don't double park - it blocks visibility for other children and vehicles.
  • Don't block the crosswalk when stopped at a stop sign or waiting to make a turn.
  • Never pass a vehicle stopped for pedestrians.

Safety Tips for Biking:

  • Ride on the right side of the road, with traffic, and in a single file.
  • Always wear a properly fitted helmet and bright clothing.
  • Parents should teach children the rules of the road and practice riding the bike route to school with their child.
  • Come to a complete a stop and look both ways before crossing the street; walk bikes across the street.

Safety Tips for Walking:

  • Walk on the sidewalk, if one is available; when on a street with no sidewalk, walk facing traffic.
  • Before crossing the street, stop and look left, right and left again to see if cars are coming.
  • Make eye contact with drivers before crossing and always cross streets at crosswalks or intersections.
