Safety Tips to Prevent Auto Theft and Vehicle Break-ins 

The Long Beach Police Department wants to help prevent theft and keep you and your vehicle safe.

Safety Tips to Reduce Auto Theft: 

• Secure your vehicle before leaving it - lock the doors, use an anti-theft device and close the windows including the sunroof.
• Park in a well-lit area where your vehicle is visible to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
• If able, park in your driveway and garage.
• Keep your garage closed and locked. 
• If available, utilize GPS tracking devices for your vehicle.

Safety Tips to Reduce Break-ins: 

• Remove ALL items or place them out of sight before exiting your vehicle.
• Do not leave cell phones, chargers, computer equipment or other electronic devices and accessories in the vehicle.
• Do not leave mail or documents with your personal information in the car, even blank papers left in plain sight are a temptation to a thief.
