Councilmember Zendejas is proud to announce that the City of Long Beach, in collaboration with the LA Galaxy and the Downtown Long Beach Alliance (DTLBA), is thrilled to present the LA Galaxy Soccer Celebration. This multifaceted event will encompass a series of engaging experiences, designed to immerse fans in the excitement of the global soccer tournament. Partnering with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro), DTLBA, and other key stakeholders, the City will curate a diverse array of memorable programming and neighborhood-based activities throughout the tournament. From the group stage commencing on June 11th to the final on July 19th, the City's community-centric programming will spotlight local businesses, community organizations, and cultural partners, ensuring that the economic and cultural advantages are shared throughout the community.
The City will also host soccer activations at local parks during the knockout stage, providing residents with opportunities to come together, connect, and celebrate soccer in a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. Further details will be released by the City in the coming weeks.
Through these events, the City is seizing the chance to contribute to the regional enthusiasm surrounding the tournament by adopting a community-focused strategy for its programming. This approach aims to bring the thrill of the global game to various communities within Long Beach, while also allowing for flexible partnerships with local organizations. These partnerships will facilitate the integration of youth sports programs, interactive activities, local business involvement, and cultural celebrations that reflect Long Beach's diverse character and passion for sports. Furthermore, this strategy enables the City to leverage partnerships to enhance its resources and maximize community benefits, while also establishing a foundation for long-term collaborations that support youth sports development and sustained regional interest in soccer beyond 2026.
