Stories from local newspapers -- the Long Beach Press Telegram, the Press, the Press Telegram, and several weekly newspapers -- are indexed in the Long Beach Public Library History Index, along with selected magazine articles, pamphlets, and documents.
The index is best searched by keywords, for example "Bixby family" or "cyclone racer". Most of the articles indexed can be found on microfilm at the Main Library.

- All regular newspaper content (articles, editorials, etc. – some restrictions do apply)

A few limitations to be aware of:

“Onsite Access” means you are in a Long Beach Public Library location accessing through the library’s internet.
While using a library computer or while connected to the library’s Wi-Fi, you can navigate directly to Nytimes.com. You will need to register then log in or if you are already registered you can simply log in with your email address and password.
You can now enjoy unlimited access to NYTimes.com on any device during your visit.
“Offsite Access” means you are anywhere outside of a Long Beach Public Library.
Use the Offsite Access link to redeem 24 hours of off-site access. When your 24 hours have expired, come back here to click the link again for another free session.

The Online Archive of California (OAC) provides free public access to primary sources—including manuscripts, photographs, artwork, scientific data and more—through collection guides and 250,000 digitized images and documents.
Analogous to catalog records for books, collection guides (also known as finding aids) are the descriptive records used to find, understand, and locate archival resources and unique materials. They help users learn more about the scope of a collection so they know if it is likely to meet their research needs.
The content on the OAC is contributed by archives, special collections, libraries, historical societies, and museums at all 10 UC campuses and across California that house the original materials.

eBooks are one of the types of books that TumbleBook Library offers. The books are completely text without animation and narration, but offer you ways to personalize the display.
Story Books are a type of eBook that includes animation with existing illustrations of the book. They also includes character voices and narration that light up the words on the screen so you can follow along.
Read-Along are one of the types of books that TumbleBook Library offers. They are a combination of Story Books and eBooks. The read-along books offer a digital copy of the text but also offer a narrator that will highlight the words for you to follow along.
Great for children of all ages, World Book Online is an online encyclopedia that covers a variety of topics ranging from animals and dinosaurs to ancient civilisations and the human body, plus hundreds of classic ebook titles.
