News ImageClosures and Detours on the I-405, I-605 and SR-22 freeways

The northbound I-405 / westbound SR-22 7th Street connector will fully close for approximately 12 months on April 18 at 10 p.m. The project contractor, Atkinson Construction, is committed to reconstructing the bridge as quickly as possible and reopening it to the 30,000 motorists that use the connector daily. The actual demolition is tentatively scheduled for April 27 - 30.

News ImagePublic Pensions for Retirement Security

The Little Hoover Commission on Thursday, February 24th, urged the Governor and the Legislature to establish the legal authority for the state and local governments to freeze pension benefits for current workers. The Commission recommends that, going forward, current workers accrue benefits under more sustainable pension plans. Payments to current retirees would not be affected.

Proclamation for "Year of the Ranchos"
At the City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, there will be a mayoral proclamation honoring two Long Beach Ranchos: Rancho Los Alamitos (of the 3rd District) and Rancho Los Cerittos (of the 8th District). Both Ranchos have been centers of significant cultural, historical and environmental preservation in the City of Long Beach.

2012 LBPD-East Division Community Gatherings
Starting in 2012 quarterly East Division Community Gatherings at the EPSS, 4800 Los Coyotes Diagonal will be held. Engaged citizens from the entire division, including representatives from neighborhood and business associations will be invited to attend. East Division police personnel will convey contemporary crime and quality of life information, and citizens will be free to share and discuss the broad and mutual interests of the East Division and its neighborhoods as a whole.
