The Long Beach Livability Initiative promotes walking, bicycling, swimming, and a healthful quality of life for all Long Beach residents. The Long Beach Livability Team is made up of City staff from across the organization, including Public Works, Health and Human Services, Development Services, Parks, Recreation and Marine, and Economic Development. This initiative has spearheaded the implementation of a number of small-scale yet impactful projects, including:

  • Eco-Totem Bicycle and Pedestrian Counter
  • Bike Fix-It and Hydration Stations
  • Bayshore Summer Bike and Bag Valet
  • Alamitos Bay Buoy Line
  • Water Quality Signage on Beaches
  • Artful Shade Structures at Parks
  • Public Telescope Viewers along Coastline
