Want to know more about Shaun? CHECK OUT HIS BIO BELOW:
A few years ago, I had an idea to activate and invigorate the Small Business Development Center at 309 Pine Ave, and rename it in honor of one of Long Beach's best: Shaun Lumachi. Shaun began his career as the Vice President of Government Affairs for the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce in 2002. He then worked as a public policy consultant for his Chamber Advocacy business in 2003. In 2007, Shaun co-founded the Long Beach Post, an online publication that covers city news, government, and sports. He was also an active member of the Long Beach community who served as a member of nearly a dozen nonprofit boards. In 2007, the Long Beach Magazine honored Shaun as one of the "Most Innovative Minds in Long Beach." Shaun married his longtime girlfriend Deziré in 2009 and lived in the Belmont Shore community. His commendable work continued until his untimely death on December 3, 2011, while he was on a business trip in Florida representing our city's Workforce Investment Board.
Shaun always asked, "What's next?" Early next year, the Small Business Development Center will be renamed the Shaun Lumachi Innovation Center. This facility will be a state of the art hub for creativity and innovation for entrepreneurs in Downtown - all of the things that Shaun embodied. This IS "what's next!"
