Animal Care Services Encourages Owners to Seek Medical Screening for Pets Adopted from Texas 10/10/2017

Long Beach Animal Care Services urge residents who recently adopted or rescued a dog or cat from Texas following Hurricane Harvey to have the animal seen by a veterinarian, screened for infectious diseases, and treated if necessary. 

Long Beach Animal Care Services Hosts Community Seminar on Urban Coyotes 10/2/2017 The Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine Animal Care Services (ACS) Bureau will host a community seminar to educate Long Beach residents on coyotes within the City, scheduled for Thursday, October 12, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Wardlow Park Community Center, 3457 Stanbridge Ave.

Record Year in 2015 with Saving Animals 2/17/2016 Animal Care Services achieved a record year in 2015 with saving animals. Euthanasia saw a reduction of 40% for dogs and 20% for cats. Live Release Rates of 83% for dogs and 54% for cats, compared to 75% and 47%, respectively.

Long Beach Offers Three Weeks of Pet Licensing Amnesty; Mandatory Spay/Neuter Law for Dogs Goes into Effect Oct. 1 9/10/2015 In an effort to encourage residents to ensure their pet’s license is current, the Long Beach City Council on September 8 voted to implement a one-time amnesty program to waive all late fee penalties and encourage voluntary compliance with the City’s pet licensing program. The amnesty program will run through September 30, 2015.

Long Beach Animal Care Twitter Hashtag to Reunite Owners with Lost Pets 7/2/2015 Long Beach Animal Care Services (LBACS) has launched a new Twitter hashtag to help reunite pets with their owners as quickly as possible. The hashtag – #LBLostFoundPets – will be updated every 30 minutes as animals arrive in the shelter or are picked up by officers in the field.

Low Cost Vaccines, Microchips, Flea & Tick Treatment for Cats and Dogs 6/25/2015 We are teaming up with Spay Neuter Project L.A. (SNP LA) to offer the community a low cost clinic at Scherer Park near the Uptown Dog Park from 4pm-7pm on the 1st and 3rd Thursday. SNP LA will have bilingual staff on hand to answer any questions you may have about your pet's health.
