Internet Permitting Requests Application Instructions

If you are a California licensed contractor who frequently performs simple construction projects in Long Beach, you may be eligible for our Internet Permitting Request service. Being registered with this service allows you to apply for necessary permits online, for simple projects such as water heater replacements, electrical service, heating upgrades, window replacements, and re-roofing. Applying will require a one-time, in-person registration to verify your credit/debit information.

  1. Please bring the following items to the Development Permit Center located City Hall on  4th Floor, to register:
    • A copy of the Licensed Contractor's current driver license.
    • A copy of the Licensed Contractor's credit/debit card.
  2. When your application is approved, a processing fee (see the City’s Fee Schedule) will be charged to your credit/debit card. Please note that an additional fee may be charged to create a new account, even if the contractor remains the same. Using a new credit card will require an in-person verification of signatures.
  3. Once approved, you will be provided with a unique personal identification number (PIN) that will allow you to obtain permits without having to transmit your credit card information. Your PIN must be provided each time a permit is requested.
  4. Please allow one business day for processing your application prior to requesting any inspections. Our staff will make every effort to ensure that the Internet Permitting Request is processed promptly.
  5. Once the permit is issued, a copy will be mailed to you through the mail.
