Long Beach Tree Planting Program

The Office of Climate Action & Sustainability is proud to support the growth of Long Beach’s urban forest by offering a free, at-request public tree planting program for residents with empty parkways. Street trees provide a variety of benefits, such as improved shade coverage, stormwater capture, and air quality. Our program aligns with the Long Beach Climate Action Plan (LB CAP) and its goal to expand and enhance urban forest cover and vegetation to mitigate urban heat island conditions.

Wait times to receive trees through this program are typically 2 months. In situations where residents wish to have a tree in their parkway sooner, many opt to purchase and plant a tree on their own. We encourage residents to apply to have a tree planted in their parkway for free using the application below.

NOTE: Tree planting pauses during summer months (July-September).
