Single Sign On

What We're Doing

As part of the 2021 Smart City Challenge to pilot a resident-facing Single Sign On solution, we partnered with Tevora Business Solutions to implement Okta’s identity management software for residents to access online City services using one login. In addition to eliminating the need for a separate login for different City services, the Single Sign On will provide enhanced security measures like multifactor authentication. As part of the pilot, we are conducting user research activities to ensure that the service is accessible to all residents regardless of device or level of technical skill. Goals of the single sign on pilot include:

  • Create a single sign-on platform for residents that, when fully implemented, would facilitate access to several online City services via one login.
  • Create a user-friendly, web-based portal for accessing two (2) or more resident-facing applications and multiple City services.
  • Provide Long Beach residents with the ability to, with one account, sign into multiple City applications and eliminate the need for separate login information for different City services.
  • Provide Long Beach constituents with enhanced security features, such as multifactor authentication (MFA), not available otherwise.
