Frank A. Gutierrez, Commissioner

Frank Gutierrez recently retired from a 34-year career in education. Gutierrez has served as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal, principal, and several district level positions. As the Director of Operations for the Long Beach Unified School District, he had an opportunity to work with 85 schools throughout the City of Long Beach. In this work, Gutierrez learned about the various communities throughout the city.

Gutierrez had the opportunity to participate in the Leadership Long Beach Program, a yearlong program that provided him with a unique opportunity to understand the city in detail, and work to make the city a better place. His experience with the Long Beach Unified School District and participation in the Leadership Long Beach Program has led to him wanting to make a difference in the city through service on the Independent Redistricting Commission. The Independent Redistricting Commission has the opportunity to listen to the needs of the citizens and create new boundaries based on these needs. Gutierrez strongly believes that the Independent Redistricting Commission will have a positive impact on the city.
