Long Beach Boulevard Rehabilitation Project
Additional project updates and information will be published on an on-going basis.
Background
The Long Beach Boulevard Rehabilitation Project will improve approximately one mile of roadway between Pacific Coast Highway and Willow Street, enhancing safety, accessibility, and mobility along one of the City’s busiest north–south corridors. The project is designed to create a smoother, safer, and more accessible experience for those who travel through the area, whether by car, bus, bike, wheelchair, or on foot.
The project is identified in the City’s Pavement Management Plan (PMP) and builds upon ongoing efforts to improve roadway conditions and mobility citywide.
In addition to resurfacing the roadway, the project will reconstruct curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and driveways to meet current ADA standards and improve surface drainage. Upgraded striping and signage will enhance visibility for drivers and pedestrians, while reconstructed bus pads will support safer and more durable transit operations.
This project is part of the Elevate ’28 Infrastructure Investment Plan, a historic initiative dedicated to enhancing Long Beach parks, community facilities, mobility access, and streets. Learn more at lbelevate28.com.

Project Updates
April 2026
Concrete removals on the east side of Long Beach Boulevard were completed in March. Reconstruction effort activities—including curbs, gutters, sidewalks, curb ramps, bus pads, and driveways—are in progress and scheduled to be completed in early April. Following completion of the east side concrete improvements, construction will shift to the west side of Long Beach Boulevard, where similar removal and reconstruction activities will begin.
