Latest Updates - March 2023
Construction has been ongoing since Fall 2022 and is expected to complete by May 2023, barring weather or other unforeseen delays. The building foundation is complete and the modular building is expected to be installed in March 2023. Minor disturbance of the 54th and Claremont Place Parking Lot will be ongoing as the contractors install the modular building, finish utility connections, and construct sidewalks. Efforts will be made to minimize inconveniences and minimize construction activities. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation throughout this project.

In November 2022, the City’s contractors are scheduled to mobilize construction equipment and fencing. Construction is anticipated to begin late Fall 2022 and work will occur between Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Minor disturbance of the 54th and Claremont Place Parking Lot will be expected as the contractors make utility connections. Project Information
The Junior Lifeguard Facility Rebuild Project will build a one-story modular building with a second level viewing deck, stingray response room, lockers, and office on the beach near Claremont Place, adjacent to the existing launch ramp and public restroom. The project also includes construction of a new foundation, new utilities, and demolition of the existing lifeguard building.
The Junior Lifeguard Facility provides access to the coast for the Long Beach Junior Guard (LBJG) program during the summers, and provides stingray treatment services for the public year-round.
