Contractor strengthening revetment with imported rocks and repurposed concrete material from the site. The material was inspected to be free of rebar and other organics (June 2026)
Contractor excavated trenches for all electrical conduits to the feed room. Electrical inspection passed and they were able to backfill (August 2026)
Contractor excavated trenches for all electrical conduits for the light poles. Trenches were backfilled. Foundations and light poles will be installed next (August 2026)
Contractor completed asbestos abatement of the demolished light pole foundations and old piping where the new restroom will be built (August 2026)

Background
The Davies Boat Launch Facilities Improvements project focuses on revitalizing one of the city's primary waterfront recreation destinations. The site plays an important role in supporting public access to coastal activities and serves a wide range of visitors including boaters and community members.
Over time, the facility has experienced wear and aging infrastructure, highlighting the need for a comprehensive effort to enhance its overall condition, safety, and functionality. This project represents a long-term investment in maintaining the sites role as a reliable and accessible recreational asset, while supporting continued public use enjoyment of the waterfront.

Project Updates
In July 2026, the contractor made significant progress installing electrical infrastructure including all conduit and risers to the light poles and feed panels. The contractor completed asbestos abatement of the demolished light pole foundations and piping. Due to changes in the new restroom location, survey was verified towards the end of the month. The contractor’s surveyor set out stakes for the new curb and gutter alignment, light pole foundations, and restroom.
In June 2026, the contractor made significant progress on the demolition of the site. The contractor demolished the upper 30-foot section of the concrete boat launch ramp, existing curb and gutter. The new sand-oil interceptor has been installed including the waste line to the outlet. Trenches were also dug up for electrical and water lines. The contracotr also improved the revetment along the south side of the project with imported rocks and repurposed concrete material from the project.

The project team is committed to moving forward with a design that satisfies both the City's standards and approved project budget. Stay tuned for updates on when the project will be re-bid.
