Eric Lopez Named Director of Long Beach Public Works Department

We would like to announce our new Director of Public Works, Eric Lopez. Mr. Lopez has served the City for the past 14 years in various roles, such as Management Assistant, Administrative Analyst, Program Manager, Tidelands Development Officer, and Project Management Officer. Throughout his career, Mr. Lopez played an active role in completing award-winning projects, such as the Colorado Lagoon restoration, Houghton and Stearns Park Community Center improvements, the Seaside Way Pedestrian Bridge, and more.
“I am honored and excited to join the City’s leadership team and to lead the Department of Public Works,” said Lopez. “I’m fully committed to working with community partners and the City team to build a safe, clean, sustainable and healthy city that’s responsive to evolving community needs and priorities.”
Mr. Lopez has worked with department staff to improve City services involving the public rights-of-way and capital improvement projects. As director, he will oversee the department’s 500-plus employees and strive to innovate our City’s infrastructure and environment.
