The Long Beach Public Library now provides self-service checkout at all 12 locations.  This easy, efficient service gives patrons the opportunity to bypass lines and check out materials themselves.

"The Library is making it easier for people to access information that enriches their lives," Mayor Robert Garcia said. “Self-checkout provides convenience to residents and allows Library staff to devote more time to quality interactions with patrons.”

To use the self-check machine, patrons must have: 

 

• A valid Long Beach Public Library card in good standing
• Library books, magazines, and other items that are eligible to be borrowed. (Some video and sound recordings need to be checked out by Library staff.) 

All patrons need to do is follow the simple instructions on the screen and scan their books. Once the check-out is verified, the machine prints out a receipt. Remember, Library employees are always nearby and happy to help.

“Self-checkout is just one of the many services that assist us in our busy lives,” Director of Library Services Glenda Williams said. “Now patrons can select a book, self-checkout in seconds and go on with their day.”
