Long Beach, CA – Long Beach Public Library (LBPL) has added MakeMake (Ma-KAY Ma-KAY), the Spanish language children’s eBook resource, to its Digital Library. MakeMake offers a vast collection of children’s and youth eBooks by Mexican and Central and South American authors, greatly enhancing LBPL’s reading selections for library cardholders with the addition of more than 400 illustrated stories, comics, novels, myths and legends.
“With the addition of this amazing new resource, our Long Beach Public Library system has demonstrated once again its commitment and focus on ensuring our residents have access to an incredibly diverse and inclusive collection of materials that is reflective of our community,” said Mayor Rex Richardson.
By working closely with publishers and authors, MakeMake offers exclusive access to hundreds of ebooks in Spanish for children and youth. The MakeMake eBook platform is entirely browser-based, so users do not need to download an app or join a wait list for any of the titles. All MakeMake resources are free and available 24/7.
With this digital resource, LBPL now offers four Spanish language eBook resources for children and adults, totaling over 4,200 literary pieces, including:
- MakeMake.
- OverDrive eBooks and magazines.
- enki, a statewide eBook platform that features always available titles, no waitlists.
- TumbleBookLibrary, an interactive picture books and games platform for children.
“The Library has been consistently building an impressive Spanish language collection over the past several years and we are very excited to announce the addition of MakeMake, a leading provider of high-quality Spanish language eBooks for children, to our Digital Library,” said Library Director Cathy De Leon.
MakeMake and many other eBook and digital resources can be found in the Digital Library. All are free to use on any computer or mobile device inside or outside the library. For more information, visit lbpl.org or call 562.570.7500.
