Long Beach, CA – The Third Annual Long Beach Pet Fair will take place at Marina Green Park (386 E. Shoreline Dr.) on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will bring together pet lovers, families and local organizations to promote pet care and the adoption of rescue and shelter animals. The fair is organized by local partners The Little Lion Foundation, with support by The Cat Cove and Long Beach Animal Care Services.

“The Long Beach Pet Fair is a shining example of the work our Long Beach Animal Care Services, The Little Lion Foundation, and The Cat Cove are doing to improve the lives of animals in our community,” said Mayor Rex Richardson. “I encourage residents to come out to this fun event to meet adoptable animals and learn about resources and services for pet care.”

The Long Beach Pet Fair will be packed with exciting, family- and pet-friendly activities and attractions, including Lucy Pet's Crankin' Wave Maker, a self-contained mobile water feature that allows pets to play in the waves, as well as live demonstrations with the Long Beach Police Department's K-9 unit, showcasing the incredible skills and teamwork of their canine officers. The event will also feature live music, an agility course for dogs that allows furry friends to test their skills and burn off some energy, and more.

"We're thrilled to participate in this year's Pet Fair, as it's not only a fantastic opportunity to showcase our wonderful animals in need of loving homes, but also a chance to educate our community about responsible pet ownership and the importance of adoption,” said Melanie Wagner, Bureau Manager of Long Beach Animal Care Services. “Every pet deserves a happy and healthy home, and together we can make a difference.”

The Long Beach Pet Fair will feature adoption drives with hundreds of adoptable animals, where attendees can meet and adopt pets from Long Beach Animal Care Services, local shelters and rescue groups. Experts will lead educational workshops on essential topics such as pet nutrition, grooming, behavior training and the benefits of spaying and neutering. In addition to these informative sessions, the fair will host a variety of pet-centered vendors offering unique products and services.

“The Long Beach Pet Fair is more than just an event—it's an opportunity for the community to come together to make a real difference in the lives of animals,” said Claudia Otis, Executive Director of The Little Lion Foundation. “We’re excited to provide a platform where families can learn, engage and support the incredible work being done by our local shelters and rescue groups.”

The Long Beach Pet Fair underscores the LBACS “Compassion Saves” service model, which focuses on protecting shelter animals by creating an environment of care. Through community outreach and collaboration, close partnerships with animal welfare organizations, education, guidance, supportive services and innovative programs, the City is making a lasting, positive impact and creating a better future for pets and animals in Long Beach.

LBACS recently participated in NBCUniversal’s Clear the Shelters, a national pet adoption and donation campaign that ran Aug. 10 through Sept. 10. Over 160 adoptions were made during this time, including 82 dogs and 80 cats, equating to a 50% increase compared to LBACS’s average monthly adoption rate.

About The Little Lion Foundation
The Little Lion Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit since 2016, is an all-volunteer-run organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of cats through targeted programs, education and partnerships. Our mission is to eliminate the euthanasia of healthy, at-risk, and treatable cats and kittens in public shelters. In pursuit of this goal, we proudly opened Long Beach's first kitten nursery, providing a safe and nurturing environment for the most vulnerable kittens. Our committed team of volunteers provides quality care to every animal we assist, working tirelessly to make the world a better place for cats in need. About The Cat Cove
The Cat Cove, established in 2014, is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, no-kill cat rescue dedicated to saving the lives of cats and kittens from local animal shelters and feral colonies. We are committed to the well-being of every cat we rescue, including those in our daily monitored TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) projects, where we provide food, fresh water and care for feral cats. Prior to adoption, all our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FELV, up to date on 4-in-1 vaccinations, dewormed, flea-treated, and microchipped, ensuring they are healthy and ready for their forever homes.
