The City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) will welcome the summer season with a free concert featuring the ultimate 80’s party dance band, FlashPants. Concert goers can dance and sing along to the sounds of Flock of Seagulls, Devo, Bon Jovi, Eurythmics, Beastie Boys and other 80’s legends. The concert will take place on Friday, May 26 at El Dorado Park West located on Studebaker Road north of Willow Street.

“Hundreds of free, family-friendly activities are planned at our city parks all summer long,” said Mayor Rex Richardson. “I encourage all residents to kick off the summer with this great concert.”

The summer kickoff event will begin at 5 p.m. with free kid’s activities such as face painting and moon bounces. The concert will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Concert goers are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnic dinners to enjoy on the lawn.

“El Dorado Park West is the perfect place to kick off the summer season,” said Fourth District Councilman Daryl Supernaw. “Residents will enjoy an evening of music, dancing and family-friendly fun!”

“Parks, Recreation and Marine’s free concert on the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend is a summer tradition that hundreds of families enjoy,” said PRM Director Brent Dennis. “It is the start of a season of music in parks throughout the city.”

In addition to the summer kickoff concert, PRM will also host this summer a variety of other free, family-friendly events, including Movies in the Park, Long Beach Municipal Band Concert Series, Long Beach Municipal Band performances and ensembles at the El Dorado Nature Center. More information about these events will be provided at a later date.
