Long Beach, CA – In coordination with its Westside Promise Program, the City of Long Beach’s Community Development Department will host a series of free summer workshops for residents. The first workshop, taking place Saturday, June 8, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Admiral Kidd Park (2125 Santa Fe Ave.) in West Long Beach, will focus on digital inclusion to help promote technology access and digital equity in Long Beach.
In partnership with the Technology and Innovation Department and Library Services, the June workshop will provide digital skills training from Library Services and community-based organizations, low-cost computing devices (i.e., desktops, laptops, and mobile hotspots), free technical support through Human-i-t, and information on low-cost internet services and free public wi-fi locations, among other resources. All activities will be held in the park’s community center. Light refreshments will be provided. Interpretation services will be available in Khmer, Spanish and Tagalog.
The workshop is also a part of the City’s Digital Inclusion Initiative efforts that seek to ensure every individual in Long Beach, regardless of background, neighborhood or identity, has high quality, accessible, technology resources and services to be civically engaged and socially and economically empowered.
Additional community workshops, all of which will take place at Admiral Kidd Park, are listed below. Workshop times and other details will be shared on longbeach.gov/lbcd at a later date.
