The City of Long Beach today announced that Mayor Rex Richardson and First District Councilwoman Mary Zendejas, among other civic and community leaders, will serve as the grand marshals for the 2023 Día de los Muertos Grand Parade, taking place in Downtown Long Beach on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023.
The parade will commence at 11 a.m. at the intersection of Pine Avenue and East Third Street and travel down Pine Avenue to East Shoreline Drive. Led by the grand marshals, the parade will feature a variety of culturally rich performances and floats and participation from various City departments and community partners, among other elements.

The City proudly presents the following additional grand marshals who will lead the 2023 Día de los Muertos Grand Parade:

Jaime Jarrin is an Ecuadorian-born American sportscaster known as the Spanish-language voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He began broadcasting for the Dodgers in 1959 and was the 1998 recipient of the Ford C. Frick Award from the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Long Beach Latino Employees Organization is a group of City employees with a commitment to fostering growth and connections by engaging in monthly discussions focusing on professional development, health, wellness, mentorship, arts and culture, as well as volunteer opportunities and social events to facilitate meaningful connections among peers.

Gaby Hernandez is the Executive Director for ÓRALE: Organizing Rooted in Abolition Liberation and Empowerment, a Long Beach-based organization with a mission to build and sustain a thriving immigrant-led movement to end the criminalization of immigrants, secure bold protections, and fortify opportunities that allow immigrant communities to thrive.

Esteven Gamez is a former President for the Long Beach LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce, which focuses on creating a positive impact on the LGBT business and professional community and its allies.
The parade will culminate at Rainbow Lagoon, located on Shoreline Drive between Linden Avenue and Shoreline Village Drive, where the Arte y Ofrendas Festival, a family-friendly event featuring arts and crafts, music and entertainment, and food and beverage offerings, will take place from noon to 10 p.m. Paid entry to the festival is required. While community members are encouraged to come out and enjoy the festive celebrations in person, the parade will also stream live on the ABC7 Los Angeles’ digital channel followed by an on-air broadcast on ABC7 Los Angeles Sunday, Nov. 5, at 10:30 a.m.
