This month, the Long Beach Public Library joins libraries
nationwide in celebrating National Library Month, a time to
highlight our libraries. "Lives Change @ Your Library" is a fitting
theme for this year's National Library Month celebration as our
library is committed to the ever-changing needs of the Long Beach
community.
"Libraries serve as a great resource to help people improve their
lives, education, careers and businesses," Mayor Bob Foster said.
“As a catalyst in the community, our libraries offer
opportunities for everyone to learn, grow and achieve their
goals.”
In addition to providing access to books, e-books, computers and
other resources, libraries offer expert teaching and guidance to
aid people in their quest to open new worlds.
The Long Beach Public Library celebrates National Library Month by
continuing to provide a wealth of services and a few special
events. Everyone can join us on Friday, April 12, at 12 noon to
"Stop, Drop Everything and Read," and for special author events
throughout the month. In addition, the Library has programs
for all ages including story times, films, exhibits, e-book
assistance and reading clubs. Our libraries provide historical and
cultural heritage collections, digital collections, materials in
print and electronic formats, career and business resources,
homework help, computer instruction and many other creative
resources.
“As our world changes, our libraries are at the forefront
with the resources and technology to best help our
residents,” said Glenda Williams, Director of Library
Services.
