Long Beach, CA – The Long Beach Ethics Commission is seeking public input on proposed changes to its lobbyist ordinance via an online community survey, available now through Oct. 19, 2023.

The City’s Ethics Commission continues to review possible recommendations for updates to the City’s lobbyist ordinance and is seeking various perspectives on what types of communications should be disclosed to the public. Generally, these communications are defined as those that may influence the decisions of City officials. The purpose of this survey is to receive public input about what information should be collected and how. The survey is now available in English, Spanish, Khmer and Tagalog.

The survey will also continue to be promoted via targeted email blasts, City newsletters and outreach methods by local community partners.

Feedback garnered from the survey will be used to inform discussions and final recommendations during the Ethic Commission’s special meeting taking place on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. in the Civic Chamber at City Hall (411 W. Ocean Blvd.).

The City Charter, as amended by Long Beach voters in 2018, allows the Ethics Commission to make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council concerning the City’s lobbyist ordinance, as well as other laws related to conflicts of interest, campaign finance reform and governmental ethics.

Media inquiries may be directed to Heather Van Wijk, Ethics Officer, at 562.570.7443 or Heather.VanWijk@longbeach.gov.
