Long Beach, CA - The Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM)
is welcoming the community to a new series of guided Family Night Walks at El Dorado Nature Center
(7550 E. Spring St.).
“El Dorado Park Nature Center is truly a remarkable place and a great resource for our community,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “These unique after-dusk experiences allow ople to disconnect from technology, get outside and fully embrace nature right here in Long Beach.”
A rare opportunity to visit the El Dorado Nature Center after dark, guides will lead participants of all ages along the park’s quarter-mile paved path and two-mile dirt trail that winds around two lakes, a stream and forested areas. A sanctuary for animals and plant life day and night, an evening stroll through the park is a unique opportunity to explore sights, sounds and smells of the nocturnal birds and other creatures that live there.
Family Night Walks will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. every Thursday from October 7 through December 16, except for Thanksgiving, November 25. Attendees are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to start time for check in, and the gates close at 6:05 p.m.
Participation in Family Night Walks is $5 per person or free for children ages 2 and younger. Strollers are not recommended due to the darkness and rough terrain. All youth under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult to participate.
