Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) invites residents to participate in “Sunshine Seeking,” a fun scavenger hunt that leads them to five City parks where participants will meet PRM staff and learn all about the various free and low cost activities provided by PRM for youth and families, including recreation classes, summer camps and programs. No reservations or registrations are necessary for this in-person activity.

“Sunshine Seeking” starts and ends at Heartwell Park, 5801 E. Parkcrest Ave., on Friday, June 18. Beginning at 10 a.m., participants can pick up a hunt directions form at Heartwell Park, have fun solving riddles and collect a special stamp at each of the following sites:

  • Heartwell Park, 5801 E. Parkcrest Ave.
  • Coolidge Park, 352 E. Neece St.
  • Admiral Kidd Park, 2125 Santa Fe Ave.
  • Martin Luther King Park, 1950 Lemon Ave.
  • Recreation Park, 4900 E. 7th Street

Throughout the scavenger hunt, participants will find a small sun with a riddle beside it in the front windows of each community center. Participants will visit all five parks to complete the riddles and solve the phrase at the bottom of the scavenger hunt form to show that they have found sunshine. Sunshine Seekers can then turn in their completed forms by 6 p.m. to the Heartwell Park Community Center to claim a prize, including art supplies, puzzles and other small toys, while supplies last. For more information about this exciting activity, people may call 562.570.1635.
