Long Beach, CA – The public is invited to help reimagine Scherer Park’s future improvements that will better serve the local community. Two identical sessions will be hosted by the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, and Thursday, May 18 at the Boys and Girls Club of Long Beach Eastman Clubhouse (700 E. Del Amo Blvd.).
Scherer Park opened in 1959 and provides recreational opportunities to the Bixby Knolls community. The park currently features a basketball court, volleyball court, baseball diamond, playground and four tennis courts, as well as a lake, picnic areas and small recreation building with an office and multi-purpose room.
Workshop attendees can expect to participate in games and activities and engage in presentations where they can express their ideas for future Scherer Park enhancements, amenities and programs. Feedback garnered through the public workshops will support the creation of a vision plan that will inform decisions about future improvements at the park. It is anticipated that the draft vision plan will be available for community feedback in the fall.
