CORRECTION: The below public notice was updated on Jan. 14, 2022, to correct information regarding the Martin Luther King Jr. Day schedule for City-run COVID-19 testing sites.

The testing clinic at Cabrillo High School (2001 Santa Fe Ave.), available only for Long Beach students up through grade 12, faculty and staff serving these students, who are symptomatic or who require a negative test to return to school following a COVID-19 infection or post-quarantine, will be open on Monday, Jan. 17, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. per its normal schedule. Eligible people must present a school photo ID or alternative documentation to verify school status. Those deemed ineligible will be turned away.

Long Beach, CA - In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 17, the City of Long Beach facilities and services listed below will adhere to the following schedules.

Open on Monday, Jan. 17, during regular business hours:

  • The following COVID-19 testing sites
    • Former Boeing Parking Lot (3590 E. Wardlow Rd.): 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2:30 - 5 p.m.
    • Doris Topsy-Elvord Community Center at Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Ave.): 9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 2:30 - 5 p.m.
    • Cabrillo High School (2001 Santa Fe Ave.): 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
      • Available only for Long Beach students up through grade 12, faculty and staff serving these students who are symptomatic or who require a negative test to return to school following a COVID-19 infection or post-quarantine. Photo ID required.
    • Note that all other City-operated testing sites not listed above will be closed
  • All City parks and trails
  • El Dorado Regional Park
  • Fire Stations and Lifeguard Stations
  • Long Beach Airport
  • Marina offices (Alamitos Bay Marina, Shoreline Marina)
  • Main Police Station Front Desk
  • Refuse and Recycling Collection*
  • Gas Services Dispatch (562.570.2140) open 24/7 for emergency calls
  • Water/Sewer Dispatch (562.570.2390) open 24/7 for emergency calls

Closed on Monday, Jan. 17:

  • COVID-19 mobile vaccination clinics
  • Community Hotline (562.570.INFO), Resource Hotline (562.570.INFO, option 5), BizCare Hotline (562.570.4BIZ)
  • Billie Jean King Main Library, all branch libraries, including library offices (digital resources available 24/7)

City Hall*
City Hall offices and public services will be closed on Monday, Jan. 17, including commercial services typically available in the City Hall lobby such as Cashiering/Payment Processing, Utility Customer Service, Billing and Collections, and Parking Citations. The public is encouraged to continue taking advantage of the convenient online resources available on the City of Long Beach website, as well as bill payment options available on the Financial Services website.

Street Sweeping*
There will be no scheduled street sweeping or enforcement of street sweeping violations on Monday, Jan. 17. Street sweeping will resume its regular schedule on Tuesday, Jan. 18. Street sweeping delays or service interruptions may occur.

Parking Enforcement
Read your parking meter: Citywide parking violations, including parking meters, will be enforced on Monday, Jan. 17, unless the meter states "Exempt on Holidays." The days and hours of enforcement are displayed inside the meters.

Refuse/Recycling*
Trash and Recycling will be collected as scheduled on Monday, Jan. 17. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, City refuse customers may experience delays in refuse or recycling collection. While every effort will be made to collect refuse and recycling on the regularly scheduled days, if either container is not collected, residents should leave their container out to be serviced the following day.

Towing and Lien Sales
The Towing Operations & Vehicle Storage Facility, located at 3111 E. Willow St. between Temple Avenue and Redondo Avenue, will be closed on Monday, Jan. 17. Normal business hours are:

  • Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Closed Sunday and holidays.

Vehicles and property are available for release outside of the hours listed above for an additional fee. More information can be found online.

Libraries*
In observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, all Library locations and services, including the Library main phone line, will be closed on Saturday, Jan. 15. Libraries are not open Sundays or Mondays per their normal schedule. Library patrons are encouraged to utilize the Library’s vast collection of digital resources, including the Library catalog, downloads, and databases, available 24/7.

*Service delays and/or modifications may occur due to staffing impacts resulting from the increased transmission of COVID-19 cases.
