Long Beach, CA - As the holiday week approaches, the City of Long Beach is reminding all residents and visitors to comply with the Safer at Home Order to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 as cases continue to surge.
People should maintain at least a six-foot distance from other individuals not in the same household, including when at beaches and parks; wear a face covering whenever they are in public; wash hands frequently and sanitize high-touch surfaces.
The Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services will be issuing an updated Health Order allowing for outdoor gatherings only with a maximum of three households and a total of 15 people, effective at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20. Residents are urged to adhere to all protocols if they choose to attend or host a small private gathering.
The City facilities and services listed below will adhere to the following schedule during the week of Nov. 23, 2020. City Hall remains closed to the public until further notice.

The City encourages all residents to continue to use City resources that are available online at longbeach.gov during furlough days. To help balance the City’s budget during this economic downturn, some services are closed on alternating Fridays. These furloughs affect many operations in all City Departments and help prevent significant service reductions to the community. Emergency public response such as police, fire, animal care, public works and utility emergency response remain unaffected by furloughs.

City Hall
City Hall closed public access on March 18 and will remain closed until further notice. Residents are encouraged to utilize online services during this time.
Street Sweeping
There will be no scheduled street sweeping or enforcement of street sweeping violations on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27.
Parking Enforcement
Read your parking meter: Parking meters will be enforced on Wednesday, Nov. 25, through Friday, Nov. 27. For meters that state “Exempt on Holidays,” parking is free on Thursday and Friday only. The days and hours of enforcement are displayed inside the meters.
Refuse/Recycling
Refuse and Recycling will be collected as scheduled on Wednesday, Nov. 25, through Friday, Nov. 27.
Towing and Lien Sales
The Towing Operations & Vehicle Storage Facility that is located at 3111 E. Willow St. between Temple Avenue and Redondo Avenue will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 25, through Friday, Nov. 27. Normal business hours are:
Vehicles and property are available for release outside of the hours listed above for an additional fee. More information can be found online.
Libraries
All Long Beach Public Libraries closed to the public on March 18 and will remain closed until further notice. Contactless pick-up, available at select locations, will not be available on Thursday, Nov. 26, through Saturday, Nov. 28. Library patrons are encouraged to make use of LBPL’s vast collection of digital resources, including the library catalog, downloads and databases, available 24/7. Library services will resume the following week and will be available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Please call 562.570.7500 during those hours for assistance.
