Long Beach, CA – The City of Long Beach’s Celebration of the Young Child will return to Billie Jean King Main Library (200 W. Broadway) and the adjacent Lincoln Park on Saturday, April 26, 2025. In preparation for the event, the Health Department’s Early Childhood Strategic Initiatives Program is collecting feedback and ideas to gather insight into how the event can best support child development for babies and children up to 8 years old. The community survey is available online now through Friday, Feb. 28, 2025.

The event, a collaboration between the Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services (Health Department), the Long Beach Public Library, and the Mayor’s Fund for Long Beach, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and include entertainment, activities and a resource fair. Parents, families and caregivers who care for children 8 years old or younger are encouraged to attend.

Every year, the Celebration of the Young Child brings together more than 50 organizations to provide resources, hands-on learning and entertainment to over 1,000 participants. Children are provided opportunities to learn, explore and play through hands-on activities, sensory engagement and age-appropriate games. Caregivers and family members enjoy live performances by musical artists, participate in opportunity drawings and are provided a wealth of information on keeping their children healthy and thriving.

For more information about the City’s Early Childhood Education Strategic Initiatives program, the community is encouraged to visit the program webpage. People are also encouraged to follow @LBHealthDept on Facebook, Instagram and X.
