Long Beach, CA – The City of Long Beach has been named a2024 Visionary Digital Inclusion Trailblazer by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) for the seventh consecutive year.Long Beach is one of 34 jurisdictionsfrom across the country to be recognized for itsoutstandingcommitment to advancing critical digital inclusion initiatives within the community.

Digital inclusion is essential to participating and thriving in today’s world– connecting our communities to the digital skills training, internet access and computing devices that they need remains a vital priority for Long Beach,” said Mayor Rex Richardson. “We take pride in being recognized by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance and California Public Utilities Commission for our ongoing digital inclusion efforts.”

Long Beach achieved Visionary Trailblazer status by prioritizing digital inclusion for residents by:

A total of 647 digital inclusion resources were distributed via the digital inclusion hotline and community events.

  • Seekingto form partnerships with community-based organizations and other digital inclusion-specific nonprofits, via a Request for Proposals opportunity, to provide as-needed digital inclusion services.

  • Implementingthe2024 Digital Inclusion Week communications strategy, which included newsletter emails, daily social media posts/Reels featuring digital inclusion resources, updated multi-lingual digital inclusion resource guides, showcasing a new digital inclusion website, and the Digital Inclusion Implementation plan.
