Long Beach, CA – In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), which takes place annually throughout the month of October, the City of Long Beach Office of Equity will host aresource fair from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, at City Hall (411 W. Ocean Blvd.). People with disabilities and employers are invited to attend and learn how to foster inclusive employment policies and practices.

Nationally observed and led by the U.S. Department of Labor, NDEAM recognizes the important role people with disabilities play in a diverse and inclusive workforce, celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities past and present and showcases supportive, inclusive employment policies and practices.

The resource fair will feature information booths hosted by various City and community partners sharing information including trainings, transportation, independent living and more.

Consistent with this year’s NDEAM theme, “Disability: Part of the Equity Equation,” the City proudly recognizes the realignment of the Accessibility and ADA coordinator role within the City’s Office of Equity.

Additional information and statistics on disabilities in the labor force from the U.S. Department of Labor is available here.
