12/21/21 Update: This public notice was updated clarifying that the City-run COVID-19 testing sites at Long Beach City College - Pacific Coast Campus and Houghton Park will be open on Dec. 24 and 31 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. All other City-run testing sites will be closed on those days. 

12/23/21 Update: This public notice was updated correcting the hours of operation for Belmont Plaza Pool, which will be open Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31, from 5:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days, and King Park Pool, which will be open Dec. 24 and 31 from 6 to 8:50 a.m. both days. Silverado Park Pool will be closed on those days.

Long Beach, CA - In observance of the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s holidays, the City of Long Beach facilities and services listed below will adhere to the following schedules. 
 
Open on Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31: 

  • City-run COVID-19 testing sites at Long Beach City College - Pacific Coast Campus and Houghton Park, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (all other City-run testing sites closed)
  • Belmont Plaza Pool, open 5:30-9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and King Park Pool, open 6-8:50 a.m.
  • Fire Stations and Lifeguard Stations 
  • All City parks and trails, including El Dorado Regional Park and El Dorado Nature Center 
  • Long Beach Airport 
  • Marina offices (Alamitos Bay Marina, Shoreline Marina – 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.) 
  • Main Police Station Front Desk 
  • Refuse and Recycling Collection (offices will be closed but refuse and recycling will be collected as usual) 
  • Gas Services Dispatch (562.570.2140) open 24/7 for emergency calls 
  • Water/Sewer Dispatch (562.570.2390) open 24/7 for emergency calls  

Closed on Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31: 

  • Billie Jean King Main Library, all branch libraries, including pickup services and Library offices (digital resources remain available 24/7) 
  • Building and Safety Services, including inspections, plan reviews and Permit Center 
  • City Hall

Open Saturday, Dec. 25 (Christmas Day), and Saturday, Jan. 1 (New Year’s Day):

City services and facilities with normal Saturday operations that will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 25 (Christmas Day), and Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022 (New Year’s Day): 

  • City-run COVID-19 testing sites and mobile vaccination clinics 
  • Community Hotline (562.570.INFO), Resource Hotline (562.570.INFO, option 5), BizCare Hotline (562.570.4BIZ)  
  • Billie Jean King Main Library, all branch libraries, including pickup services and Library offices (digital resources remain available 24/7) 
  • El Dorado Nature Center 
  • Refuse and Recycling Collection 

City services and facilities closed on Saturday, Dec. 25 (Christmas Day), but open on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022 (New Year’s Day):  

  • El Dorado Regional Park 

City Hall 
While City Hall will be closed Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31, the public is encouraged to take advantage of the convenient online resources available on the City of Long Beach website at longbeach.gov, as well as bill payment options available on the Financial Services website. 

Street Sweeping 
Street sweeping or enforcement of street sweeping violations will not occur on Friday, Dec. 24, or Friday, Dec. 31. 

Parking Enforcement 
Read your parking meter: Citywide parking violations, including parking meters, will be enforced on Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31. Parking violations including parking meters will be enforced on Saturday, Dec. 25, and Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, unless the meter states "Exempt on Holidays." The days and hours of enforcement are displayed inside the meters. 

Refuse/Recycling 
Refuse and Recycling will be collected as scheduled on Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31. Collection will not occur on Saturday, Dec. 25, and Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022. Collection service for City serviced refuse customers with scheduled collection on Saturdays will occur the day before on Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31, respectively. Towing and Lien Sales 
The Towing Operations & Vehicle Storage Facility, located at 3111 E. Willow St. between Temple Avenue and Redondo Avenue, will be closed on Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31. Normal business hours are: 

  • Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
  • Closed Sunday and holidays. 

Vehicles and property are available for release outside of the hours listed above for an additional fee. More information can be found online. 

Libraries 
All Long Beach Public Library locations, including the Library main phone line, will be closed on Friday, Dec. 24; Friday, Dec. 31; Saturday, Dec. 25; and Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022. Libraries are not open Sundays or Mondays, per their normal schedule. Library patrons are encouraged to utilize the Library’s vast collection of digital resources, including the Library catalog, downloads, and databases, available 24/7.
