Long Beach, CA – The City of Long Beach is announcing that grant applications are available for eligible property owners to have exterior improvements done on their commercial sites along certain business corridors.

“Long Beach is proud to offer this important grant program to help local commercial property owners stay in business,” said Mayor Rex Richardson. “The City continues to remain committed to investing in repair programs that support the needs of our community.”

Facilitated by the City’s Development Services Department, the federally-funded Commercial Corridor Façade Improvement Program (CCFIP) is geared to directly assist storefront businesses located only along business corridors in select areas of the city designated as high-need neighborhoods and poverty  zones.

The corridors, located in the north, west and midtown sections of Long Beach, include portions of Santa Fe Avenue, Pacific Coast Highway, 10th Street and Long Beach Boulevard. See detailed Map for more information.

Property owners who qualify under the CCFIP requirements can receive up to $25,000 per storefront for exterior improvements to their commercial properties and up to a maximum of $175,000 per parcel. These improvements can include painting, awnings and signage. The Program, which does not require matching funds from participants, has a total of $1 million in grant money.

“We know that this assistance program will provide opportunities that can be very helpful for eligible storefront property owners along our low-income business corridors in Long Beach,” said Department Director Christopher Koontz. “Our Department team remains dedicated to promoting equity and supporting those in need across our designated improvement areas of the city.”

CCFIP is a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and was approved by the Long Beach City Council with a nine to zero vote in July 2022 as part of the City’s 2022-23 Action Plan.
