City of Long Beach Advises of Delays in Refuse Collection
Diko Melkonian
Deputy Director/Bureau Manager
Department of Public Works

Some City of Long Beach refuse customers may experience interruptions in collection due to unexpected mechanical issues on recently acquired Long Beach refuse trucks. In an abundance of caution, some refuse vehicles have been taken out of service to accommodate vehicle repairs for safety purposes.

As a result, refuse collection may be delayed for some customers by one day as vehicles and equipment are reallocated to cover existing collection routes. If your refuse is not collected on your regularly scheduled day, please leave your cart or bin out and it will be serviced the following day. There is no need to call us to report a missed collection unless it is not collected by the end of day on Saturday, October 3, 2020. For additional information, customers may visit or report a collection problem online.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused as a result of this unforeseen safety matter. This disruption is due to the mechanical issues of the fleet and is not related to furloughs of City employees.
