Long Beach Health Officials re-opened Alamitos Bay today after lab results indicated bacterial levels were within state standards, following a sewage spill on December 18 in Naples, from a force main break. Daily water samples taken from Alamitos Bay swimming sites now confirm that the water is safe for swimming.

For information on Long Beach Water Department construction work to repair the main, including the closure of Ravenna Bridge from today until New Year's Day, and posted detours, please visit http://bit.ly/1vl2Son

In order to protect the safety of the public, water quality monitoring is performed weekly at City beaches and bays by the Health Department’s Recreational Water Quality Program. For the latest status on Long Beach recreational beach water quality, call 562.570.4199 or visit www.longbeach.gov/Health/Inspections-and-Reporting/Inspections/Water-Quality/.
