City Officials Announce Agreement to Acquire Property for Future Campus Supporting People Experiencing Homelessness 1/28/2019 Earlier today, the City of Long Beach and Ninth District Councilmember Rex Richardson announced an acquisition agreement made with a North Long Beach property owner at 6841-6845 Atlantic Avenue (“Atlantic Farms”), Long Beach, California 90805. The final sale, which will be pending City Council approval on February 5, 2019, will set the stage for a state of the art village-style campus of supportive services for people experiencing homelessness. Supportive services will include a much-anticipated year-round homeless shelter with 125 beds. 
Crime Continues to Decrease in Long Beach 1/11/2019 The Long Beach Police Department announced today that year-end citywide crime statistics for 2018, reflect an 8.4% decrease in Part 1 crime, which includes reductions in both violent and property crimes when compared to 2017.

Long Beach Airport Announces 31 Acres of Land Available for Development 8/21/2017 The City of Long Beach has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for 31 acres of land for development for aeronautical purposes at Long Beach Airport (LGB). The availability of such a large amount of land is a unique opportunity, the likes of which has not occurred at the airport since the developments of the Long Beach Airport Business Park and Kilroy Airport Center in the 1980s and early 1990s.
New Affordable Development for Seniors and Veterans Reaches Milestone 8/16/2017 The City of Long Beach, in partnership with the Long Beach Community Investment Company (LBCIC) and Century Housing Corporation, celebrated the groundbreaking of The Beacon, a new two-building 160-unit supportive housing development. The buildings will complete the final phase of the site development, that includes the adjacent 161-unit Long Beach Senior Arts Colony and the 39-unit Annex. The Beacon is expected for completion in late 2019.
