UPDATE: On August 14, 2017, Long Beach Police Detectives arrested Drake Loza an 18 year-old resident of Long Beach and documented gang member, for the murder of Jonathan Sandoval-Aleman. Loza was booked at the Long Beach City jail and is being held on $2,000,000.00 bail. He was arrested in the area of 10th Street and Orange Ave. 

On August 12, 2017 at approximately 11:30 P.M. Long Beach Police Officers were called to the area of 7th Street and Orange Avenue regarding a possible shooting.  When officers arrived they found a male adult victim with gunshot wounds to his upper torso. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and determined the victim to be deceased.

Long Beach Police Homicide detectives responded to the scene to investigate the incident. It is unknown if the incident is gang related. A motive for the shooting is yet to be determined and the investigation remains ongoing.

The victim has been identified as Jonathan Sandoval-Aleman a 23 year old resident of Long Beach.
