2/10/20 Update:
On February 8, 2020, detectives were notified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office that the death of 55-year-old Marc Ramirez was determined to be a homicide.
As a result, this incident is now being investigated as a murder. Detectives are continuing to actively investigate the incident to further the investigation, which is ongoing.
Original Release Published on 2/04/20: UNDETERMINED DEATH INVESTIGATION – 68TH STREET AND PARAMOUNT BOULEVARD
On January 5, 2020, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers responded to a call of a person down in an alley in the area of 68th Street and Paramount Boulevard.
The officers located the victim in the alley rear of the 6700 block of Paramount Boulevard. The victim was located breathing, but was unresponsive, suffering from injuries to his upper torso. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and transported him to a local hospital.
On January 31, 2020, detectives learned the victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The victim has been identified as 55-year-old, Marc Ramirez of Long Beach. The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office will determine the cause of death.
Due to the victim’s injuries, Homicide detectives will continue to investigate the incident. There is no suspect information at this time and we ask anyone that might have witnessed this incident to please contact our detectives.
