On Saturday, October 15, 2016, at approximately 10:26 p.m., Long Beach Police were dispatched to the area of 4th Street and Obispo Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision, which resulted in the death of a male adult.
Arriving officers found the collision involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded and determined the male adult pedestrian deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2003 Honda Civic, being driven by a 55-year-old male resident of Long Beach, was traveling east on 4th Street, when it collided into a pedestrian. According to witness statements, the pedestrian was crossing 4th Street at Obispo Avenue in an unmarked crosswalk at the time of the collision. The driver remained at the scene.
The pedestrian is described as a 79-year-old resident of Indio. The Los Angeles County Coroner will positively identify the pedestrian and notify next of kin.
