Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred on March 23, 2025 in the area of Wardlow Road and Woodruff Avenue.
On March 23, 2025 at approximately 7:35 p.m., officers responded to an injury traffic collision at Wardlow Road and Woodruff Avenue, between a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle.
Upon arrival, Long Beach Fire Department personnel were already on scene, providing medical aid. They transported the driver of the passenger vehicle to a local hospital. The motorcyclist and the passenger of the vehicle succumbed to their injuries on the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates a 2025 Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle was traveling northbound on Woodruff Avenue. A 2006 Toyota Highlander was turning left from southbound Woodruff Avenue to eastbound Wardlow Road when the Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle collided into the Toyota Highlander.
At this time, other contributing factors are under investigation.
The motorcyclist was identified as Austin Patrick Fett, a 28-year-old resident of Lakewood.
The identity of the passenger of the 2006 Toyota Highlander is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Office of the Medical Examiner.
