Collision Investigation detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on March 25, 2024 which resulted in the death of a male adult motorcyclist.

At approximately 6:57 a.m., officers responded to an injury traffic collision on Pier T Avenue south of Pier T Lane.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and provided medical aid. Fire personnel transported the motorcyclist to local hospital in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed a Dodge Ram truck was traveling southbound on Pier T Avenue when it was struck on the passenger side by the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist crossed multiple lanes of traffic and collided with the passenger side of the Dodge Ram. The Dodge Ram driver stopped, began rendering aid and called 9-1-1.

Speed is being investigating as a factor on the behalf of the motorcyclist.

Speed, distracted driving, and driving under the influence are not considered factors on behalf of the Dodge Ram.

On Aug. 14, 2024 detectives were notified of the death of the motorcyclist. He was identified as Alejandro Salazar, a 44-year-old resident of San Pedro.
