On Dec. 30, 2020 at approximately 8:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of Judson Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

Upon arrival, officers located a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle and had sustained serious injuries. Shortly after the collision, officers located the driver and the vehicle that stuck the pedestrian several blocks away. The Long Beach Fire Department responded, rendered aid, and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital in stable but critical condition.

Through their preliminary investigation, detectives determined the 36-year-old female driver from Long Beach was traveling eastbound on Pacific Coast Highway in a 2013 Dodge when she struck a male adult pedestrian who was in the roadway and outside of a crosswalk. The driver has a valid driver’s license and was not impaired or distracted at the time of the collision. She cooperated with the investigation and was released from the scene, pending further investigation.

On Dec. 30, 2020 at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Collision Investigation Detail was notified the pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries. The pedestrian has been identified as 38-year-old David Cryster-Weller, a resident of Riverside.
